Certified Nanotech & Clean Tech Professional (CNCP)

The International Association of Nanotechnology (IANT) and the California Institute of Nanotechnology (CINANO) have a partnership with the Clean Tech Institute to offer workforce preparation programs for individuals seeking nanotechnology skills.

The main program is the Certified Nanotech & Clean Tech Professional (CNCP) program. This is an 8-week advanced training program for engineers, scientists, technical and business managers to prepared for senior level of responsibilities in technology and business development in the field of nanotechnology and applications in clean energy. Participants must have a four-year degree or equivalent with at least five years of work experience.

This program began in 2007 with the support of a $1.5 million Advanced Manufacturing Industry Grant to IANT/IANANO from the US Department of Labor, Employee and Training Administration (ETA) under the authority of the High Growth Job Training Initiative. The scope of the grant was to fund training to equip California workers for employment in the emerging Nanotechnology industry  (Press Release: October 20, 2006). The time frame for this grant was for three years (November 1, 2006-October 31, 2009). This award was audited by an independent CPA office at the request of the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Inspector General-Office of Audit. A report of the findings was released on September 12, 2011.
